You're watering. The lawn is still dying.

Dry patches keep coming back. Brown edges even after rain. Water that pools on the surface and runs off instead of soaking in. That's not a watering problem. That's hydrophobic soil.

Most Australian soils become water-repellent over time. The surface literally repels moisture so no matter how long you run the sprinklers, the water never reaches the root zone. Your lawn is dehydrating from the inside out — and no amount of extra watering will fix it.

Soak fixes the foundation everything else depends on.

What it does

A premium concentrated wetting agent with kelp extract, formulated specifically for Australian turf conditions. Breaks the surface tension in water-repellent soil, allowing water and nutrients to move freely through the soil profile and into the root zone. The kelp extract adds natural root stimulants that support stronger root development as the lawn rehydrates and recovers.

One application. You will see the difference the next time you water.

Application rate

200ml per 100m2. Mix into 5 to 6L of water. Apply evenly. Water in with 4 to 6mm of irrigation immediately after. If temperatures are above 30 degrees water in straight away.

Apply every 4 weeks as part of your regular program, or immediately at the first sign of dry patch, poor water absorption, or water running off the surface.

1L covers 500m2.

What to expect

Within 24 to 48 hours: Noticeably improved water penetration. Visible the next time you irrigate.
Days 3 to 5: Dry patches starting to respond as the root zone rehydrates.
Weeks 1 to 2: Consistently better moisture retention across the whole lawn and every other product in your program performing noticeably better.

Why it works when watering alone hasn't

Most people try to solve dry patches by watering more. It doesn't work because the problem isn't the volume of water — it's the soil's ability to accept it. Hydrophobic soil is extremely common in Australia, particularly in sandy soils, high-sun areas, and lawns that experience dry periods. Once the soil becomes water-repellent, the cycle is self-reinforcing.

Soak is also why it's Step 1 in the Turf & Surf program. No other product can perform properly until the soil is open and water is penetrating correctly. If you've used fertilisers or other lawn products and felt underwhelmed by the results, hydrophobic soil is very likely part of the reason.

Complete the program

Soak works harder when paired with the full two-layer approach. Most lawns need both layers to see results that hold.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my soil is hydrophobic?
Run a hose on a dry patch for 30 seconds. If the water beads up, runs sideways, or pools instead of absorbing — that's hydrophobic soil. One of the most common lawn problems in Australia and one of the least talked about.

I've used other wetting agents and didn't see much difference. Why will Soak be different?
Most wetting agents are agricultural products formulated for broad-acre use, not residential turf. Soak is built specifically for the conditions Australian home lawns face. If you've also been dealing with compacted soil or a weak root system, that compounds the issue — which is why Soak works best as part of the full program.

Will Soak fix dead patches completely?
Soak fixes the water penetration issue. If the grass underneath is dormant rather than dead, it will often recover once properly hydrated. Give it 2 weeks before writing anything off. Most people are surprised by what comes back.

Can I mix Soak with other Turf & Surf products?
Yes. Soak is fully tank-mix compatible with Vital and Base. In the program, all three are applied together as the soil layer in a single pass.

How long does one bottle last?
At 200ml per 100m2, a 1L bottle covers 500m2 — enough for a standard suburban lawn for a full season of monthly treatments.

Is it safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Safe once watered in and the lawn surface has dried, usually within a couple of hours.
